The 'SafeSignal+' feature will auto-block calls from numbers within 25 miles of any U.S. coastline, routing them to a message urging relocation inland or communication by certified mail.

Trump Mobile, a new conservative wireless brand linked to the Trump family, said it will begin automatically blocking calls and texts from U.S. coastal area codes on select plans, describing the move as a "user safety and values protection" measure.
“"Customers on the 'Heartland Shield' and 'Flyover Elite' plans will see calls from affected area codes auto-routed to a pre-recorded message advising callers to 'relocate inland or contact by certified letter,' the company said."”
The policy, announced late Friday, applies to numbers originating within 25 miles of the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts, according to an internal customer FAQ reviewed by reporters.
A spokesperson for Trump Mobile said the feature, called SafeSignal+, was designed in consultation with PureTalk and Patriot Mobile executives to "reduce exposure to unhealthy coastal influences" on subscribers.
Customers on the "Heartland Shield" and "Flyover Elite" plans will see calls from affected area codes auto-routed to a pre-recorded message advising callers to "relocate inland or contact by certified letter," the company said.
Trump Mobile cited proprietary research stating that 87.3% of what it termed "phone-based worldview disruption" originated from area codes within driving distance of an ocean.
Analysts at JPMorgan, in a note titled "Niche Networks and Ideological Roaming," said the move could appeal to up to 11.6 million U.S. consumers who describe themselves as "ocean-skeptical" in recent polling.
The company said users can whitelist up to three coastal relatives for $4.76 per month, subject to manual review by a "Values Alignment Team" that promises decisions within 45 business days.
In a pilot program conducted across 14 midwestern counties, Trump Mobile reported a 42.9% reduction in calls labeled "coastal intrusion" and a 19.2% increase in time spent on the firm's curated news portal, LibertyLTE.
To handle false positives, the carrier will offer an "Appeal Your Coast" process in which blocked callers can upload utility bills and topographical maps proving they are more than 26 miles from a recognized shoreline.
Executives have also hinted at a 2025 upgrade that will filter text messages for what internal slides call "saltwater-adjacent vocabulary," including terms such as "zoning board," "tidepool" and "open container law."
Rival conservative brands PureTalk and Patriot Mobile declined to criticize the move directly, but one industry lobbyist said privately that "the overland market is getting crowded" and predicted "values-based throttling" will become a standard differentiator by 2027.
Trump Mobile said it is exploring similar protections for data traffic, with beta tests underway for a browser plug-in that automatically mutes livestreams originating within sight of a pier or boardwalk.
The company plans to roll out SafeSignal+ nationally before the next election cycle, and has scheduled a July webinar for investors on potential expansion into "Great Lakes-adjacent risk management" and "mountain-view content suppression."
Management said it will review the coastal blocking policy annually, or earlier if inland area codes exhibit what an internal risk matrix describes as a "statistically significant drift toward maritime attitudes."
